They work a treat just as described

These are very useful on these short dark days. I have one in my kitchen so that I can briefly enter during the evening without switching on the lights.

"Effective"
The light sensor works well, so it only comes on when needed. Casts a gentle light which works in the children's bedroom and on the landing. Not bright enough to keep them awake but you can see the inevitable trip hazards!
